MHR Student Recognized for Academic Achievement
The College of Business Administration is proud to announce that Heather Marie Smith has been named the 2009 Valedictorian and will be given the Julian A. McPhee Honor Award for Student Excellence. As a freshman, Smith was accepted into the university's Kellogg Honors College where she was exposed to rigorous coursework and expected to give back to her community through service projects. Despite the extra work, Smith excelled in her classes as a student in the Management and Human Resources Department. | | |
Professors in her department refer to her as focused, conscientious and motivated. MHR Professor Kevin Farmer said of Smith: "She combines an agile mind with superb people skills – a combination that primes her to excel in any career she chooses."
Smith also has been involved in student clubs such as the Circle K International Community Service Club and PIHRA, Professionals in Human Resources Association.
Smith graduated in March at the end of winter quarter and currently is working at the Orange County Transportation Authority where she is a training and development intern.
